Mums and bubs have never had so much fun in a music class as they will in Kindermusik Village. This delightful environment provides a balanced, multi-sensory assortment of activities that will not only teach Mums about child development, but also help to stimulate their child across all learning domains.
You will see language start to form, physical skills as we move in as many different ways as possible. As we rock our little ones, we are preparing them for crawling and walking by stimulating the vestibular system.
The Kindermusik Village class provides a delightful environment unlike any other. Through a unique blend of multi-level activities that include creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration, and a colorful literature component, baby's growth and development are stimulated and all senses engaged.
Kindermusik Village is for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement.
What a Parent and Child Will Experience in Class:
Variety of Music -- Musical diversity builds strong neural in a baby's forming mind, which is why each Kindermusik semester contains an array of styles, sounds, and genres.
Instrument Play -- Age-appropriate experiences with child-safe instruments enhance a sense of rhythm and steady beat, develops a keen awareness of the distinguishing qualities of sound, and encourages spontaneity and creativity.
Dance -- A classroom full of baby and adult pairs dancing together helps a little body develop the muscle strength needed to crawl and walk and helps a little heart to fall in love with the sheer joy of responding to music.
Together Time -- A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “quality time,” offering the parent a place to create special memories with their child, gain new insights into their child's development, and nurture their child's natural love of music.
Expert Advice -- A Kindermusik Educator explains “what-to-watch-for” every step of the way and how each activity enhances a child's complete development.
Learning Continues at Home -- With the home materials, the learning continues at home with the child's best teacher—the parent!
Do Babies Really Benefit From Music Classes? Is My Child Too Young?
YES THEY BENEFIT ! And they are NEVER too young!
The youngest I have had in my classes is 2 weeks of age and it always amazes me how much they take in (as is evident further down the track).
Skill
Sample Activities
Language
Vocal play - we get children to imitate and articulate sounds to help with the acquisition of language
Auditory
Active Listening - by focussing on a sound for a short moment, your baby will learn the beginnings of sound discrimination
Motor Control
We reposition our baby's bodies and move in a variety of ways ot help them gain more control over their bodies and teach them new skills
Brain Function
During movement, we work on cross lateral exercises to stimulate the corpus collosum and get the two sides of the brain working together. Essential for crawling and walking and later - reading!
Musical
Singing in class helps our babies to hear musical sounds and a wide variety of music on the take home CD exposes them to various genres and tambres
Steady Beat: As we play with instruments and dance, babies start to internalise steady beat which is essential for cutting with scissors and brushing our teeth!
Social
Even at a few weeks of age babies are becoming interested in the world around them. We do group dances and other social activities to allow babies to interact and bond
Visual
As we dance in different ways, and rock, our babies need to constantly refocus, strengthening eye muscles.
Eye tracking - great for helping them to focus far and near and strengthen eye muscles from side to side and up and down (needed for reading later)
Problem Solving
Tactile Activities - these allow your baby to solve problems and to see how objects can be manipulated
Pre-Reading
Books - a take home book that goes with the theme is a great way to ehance what we do in the classroom at home and starts invaluable pre-reading processes

Are the home materials necessary?
Definately! As we experience activities within class, it is the reinforcement of these concepts and skills at home using the home materials that ensures the program's success and allows your child the best opportunity at learning. Children learn well in a familiar environment (home) and through repetition, cement the skills we have learned in class. This instills confidence and a willingless to further explore, enabling your child to participate more fully in class.
Our Next Unit in 2012 - Cock a Doodle Moo
This explores a farm theme through music, motion and multi-sensory activities. Baby will enjoy the movement of a "hayride" and experience vocal play by using farm animal sounds.
Hop on the hayride—it's time to head for the farm! In this class, you will sing songs about the farm, including “Old MacDonald,” “Hayride,” and “Clever Cows.” You'll engage in rituals and playful activities with your baby, including infant massage, lap bounces, exercise, and quiet time.
An exciting book is great for identifying animals and animal sounds and even has a space for your to put your child's photo in the tractor!
Home Materials: A picture board book with charming farm animals and the sounds they make— Cock-a-doodle-Moo, a CD of the songs heard in class, a Sunshine Jingle instrument for music-making at home, and a set of Art Banners for the nursery wall.
