Registration Policy

Enrolment Policies:

Enrolment is taken on a first come, first served basis.  Your completed and signed enrolment form accompanied by the holding deposit reserves your place in a particular class in advance.

You  will receive confirmation of enrolment by telephone, mail or email.  If in the event the class you have chosen is full, a customer representative will call you to discuss other alternatives.

The remaining tuition fee is due at the beginning of the semester at lesson 1.  Alternatively, if you choose a payment plan, these are due on weeks 1 and 4 (for 2 payments) and weeks 1, 4 and 8 (for 3 installments). For Village payment plans, they are due on weeks 1, 3 and 5.  Credit card payment plans spread the payments over five months and are taken out according to the payment plan scedule automatically. No reminders are given at any time for payment plans. It is your responsibility to remember when they are due.

We take VisaCard and MasterCard in the studio or over the phone.  Cash, EFTPOS, money orders and cheques are also accepted.  All payments are made at the office or over the phone and our teachers do not handle the payment of fees.

Choosing a Program:

The age recommendations for the Kindermusik programs have been carefully chosen to best group children in an age and developmentally appropriate way.  Therefore, it is important that your child be at least the minimum age by the start of the program in which you are enrolling.

Please note that these ages are guidelines only and each child is assessed individually to determine where they would be best suited.  For a guide as to which program your child would be ready for, please read our "Ages and Stages" page which details each area of development and the skills needed before moving onto the next level.

Parent/Caregiver Responsibilities:

Food, Drink and Toys:
There is to be no food, drink or toys brought into the Kindermusik teaching room.  Apart from making a mess, other children want what they can see but don't have.  Dummies, bottles, drink containers, toys etc are to be left in the waiting room or given to the teacher to put in a safe place until after class.

Supervision of Children:
Children must be supervised at all times.  Kids Discover educators and staff will not be supervising your children outside Kindermusik classes.  Any loss or injury sustained in the waiting room of the Kids Discover facility not directly involved in the Kids Discover program is the sole responsibility of participants and their families.

Sick Children:
If a child is too sick to go to school or daycare, they are too sick to attend Kindermusik.  Please be aware that there are often pregnant women in class and the rest of the children in class to consider and as we have a duty of care to you all, it is important that contagious conditions are kept out of the classroom.  If you have an older child that cannot go to school because they are ill, if they have a contagious condition such as chicken pox, measles, rubella etc, then they will not be accepted into the classroom.

Siblings in Classes:
Village (birth - 18 months): We do not regularly allow siblings into the Village classes (unless in the case of twins or triplets).  In our experience, the babies want to play with the older children sitting in the class and their focus is constantly drawn away from the experiences we wish them to participate in.

Our Time (18 months - 3 years):  Younger siblings are accepted into the classroom on a case by case basis.  Where the sibling is contained and watched, there usually isn't a problem but in some instances, the younger sibling is left to crawl around and distracts the other children.  This is not acceptable.  Therefore, we do assess each situation individually.  Please note however, if you choose to bring a younger sibling and it is acceptable to the teacher, you are dividing your attention between the 2 children and the enrolled child is not getting the full experience that there is to be had.  The enrolled child is usually the one who misses out when the attention is divided.

Imagine That (3 - 5 years):  As parents come in for the final 15 mins for joint activities, siblings are encouraged in this age group for the final sharing time.

Young Child (5 - 7 years):
While siblings are usually not a problem, please be aware that there can be tantrums as the enrolled child is playing a glockenspiel or other instrument and the younger sibling wants to play too.  In this class, like Imagine That, parents come in for the final 15 minutes only.

Instruments:
The instruments used in class should be used with care and respect by both children and adults. They are not toys.

Social Talk:
While social interaction is encouraged outside the Kindermusik classroom, and parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate enthusiastically within the classroom, social chatter is inappropriate during the class experience.

Mobile Phones:

Please make sure all mobile phones are turned off during class time.

Communication:

Please make sure the teacher is aware of any circumstances that may affect your child's learning. This may include family situations, health issues, learning difficulties, or events.  We would much rather know of your concerns early so we can help in any way we can.

Nappies:
Please take your soiled nappies and other rubbish away. It is illegal for us to dispose of soiled nappies in the industrial bins provided on the premises. Therefore, please take all rubbish with you.

Class Policies:

Twin, Triplet and Second child discounts:
Kids Discover gives discounts for twins and triplets and children from the same family in the SAME class.  The second child receives a 25% discount on tuition fees with the 3rd child receiving a massive 50% discount off tuition.  Sibling packs are available for Our Time, Imagine That and Young Child classes at a reduced rate.  No duplicate home materials are needed for Village classes.

No discounts are given on home materials at any time.

Missed Classes:
We do not refund for classes missed by the student.  Any class cancelled as a result of a teacher being sick will be made up or rescheduled.  We make every effort to find a replacement teacher in the event of a teacher being sick as continuity is important for the children.  We do allow students to make up a missed lesson by attending on a different day providing there is space.   Parent MUST ring the office prior to coming to arrange the makeup lesson.  As a lot of classes are full, vacancies are limited.  We expect that this will be used for emergencies and sickness and not for things like missing classes to attend birthday parties or other events attended by you by choice.

We remind you that Kindermusik is a commitment for the class time slot you have chosen.   By enrolling, you are reserving a place for your child in a specific class on a specific day.

Make up lessons must be made up in the same term or semester in which the missed lesson has occured. We do not carry over these make up lessons. Any make up lessons not attended by the end of the semester are forfeited.

Public Holidays and Pupil Free Days:

Kids Discover do not hold any classes on Public Holidays but we do teach on Pupil Free days.

Gandparents and visiting others:
Grandparents, Mums, Dads etc that don't usually attend class are welcome to come into the classroom at any time.  We welcome family members into the classroom to observe as it enhances the Kindermusik experience. We encourage where possible, for them to sit with you and participate in the class.

Punctuality:
Punctuality is a priority.  Your child will more settled and gain more from the class experience if you arrive a little early.  Toys are provided in the waiting room for you and your child to enjoy before class.

Personal Information:

Individual confidentiality is maintained.  Please do not ask for telephones numbers and addresses of other students.  While contact outside the classroom is encouraged, we urge parents to swap telephone numbers themselves.  Please do not take photographs and videos without the permission of other class members.

Late payments
All late payments incur a $10.00 late fee. Dishonoured cheques incur a $35.00 fee.

Cancellation
Deposits are required to confirm your place in the class of your choice.  These are non-refundable. Home materials will not be refunded once received.  Lessons are to be paid for in full once a semester has commenced unless another child is found to fill the space in the class.

There is a cancellation fee of $35.00 per child.  Once monies are paid, there are no refunds given.  However, in extreme circumstances a credit may be given toward future Kindermusik classes.
